The Perfect Slaw Recipe
I'm not kidding, this is such a great recipe and very easy to make.
We are a very simple food family. We like to eat foods that pack a punch while still tasting the freshness in all our ingredients. That being said we do have a few guilty pleasures. For Scott it’s ketchup and for me it’s any sort of salad cream whether it’s Heinz Salad Cream or Miracle Whip, I don’t care, so long as it’s creamy and tangy😊
With that in mind here is my favorite slaw recipe:
Ingredients:
Veggies
I med head of napa cabbage shredded (I start at one end and thinly slice until I get to the base then wash the shredded pieces) You can use a regular head of cabbage but the napa is so much better.
4 carrots shredded
1 med sweet onion shredded (optional)
The above ingredients should be around 16oz. If more then adjust the dressing ingredients as needed
Dressing:
2/3 cups Miracle Whip
3Tbs canola oil (or any other neutral oil)
1.5 tsp onion powder
½ tsp celery seeds
1 Tbs white vinegar (can substitute white wine vinegar if you want to add some sweetness)
¼ tsp sea salt
½ tsp poppy seed
· Black pepper to taste
Directions:
1. Shred all the veg and weigh. The dressing amounts listed above are for 16oz of shredded veg…adjust as needed.
2. Mix together all the dressing ingredients.
3. Add the dressing ingredients to the shredded veg and refrigerate before using.
As a FYI, the napa cabbage is more delicate than a regular head of cabbage and doesn’t keep as well.
